MLM Recap: Jacob Turner pitches 5 strong innings as Lakeland trounces Clearwater

By my count, I've promised a post on West Michigan, scouting reports on some Toledo relievers (and a Tigers reliever now that Daniel Schlereth has been promoted) and another Stars and Scrubs for July. All three should be done this week, and I'll spend next week looking at the draft and maybe starting prospect rankings (it's a bit early, but consider them my "midseason" ones even though they're happening at the end of the season).

Onto the recaps!

AAA: Scranton/Wilks-Barre 7, Toledo 4

Ryan Ketchner gave up 4 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits and 3 walks with 3 strikeouts. He did yield 2 homers, which indicates that this start could have been a lot worse. Scot Drucker pitched a hitless inning with 2 strikeouts. Max St. Pierre was 3-4 with a double and Andy Dirks was 0-3 but walked twice and stole a base.

AA: Erie DNP (off-day)

A+: Lakeland 9, Clearwater 2 (Game 1)

Jacob Turner gave up 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk in his 5 inning start, striking out 2. Gustavo Nunez was 3-5 with a double while Fransisco Martinez was 2-3 with a double, a stolen base and a walk.

A+: Clearwater 6, Lakeland 4

Wilfredo Ramirez went 3 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 strikeouts. Daniel Fields was 1-3 with a double while John Murrian was 1-3 with a homer.

A: West Michigan 3, South Bend 2

Victor Larez gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits and a walk with 2 strikeouts in his seven innings of work. Michael Rockett was 2-3 and Tony Plagman hit a pinch-hit triple.

SS: Connecticut DNP (All-Star break)

5 C-Tigers earned All-Star nods: James Robbins, Matt Perry, PJ Polk, Ryan Enos and Julio Rodriguez.
