MLM Weekend Recap: Cale Iorg goes on a tear for Toledo

A lot of moves being made: Casper Wells to Detroit, Cale Iorg to Triple-A, Brent Dlugach and Ryan Streiby to the disabled list among others

Sunday

AAA: Toledo 4, Columbus 2

Ryan Ketchner went five scoreless innings, giving up five hits and three walks with no strikeouts. Shawn Roof was 2-for-3 with a double and Cale Iorg was 2-for-4.

AA: Reading 5, Erie 3 (Game 1)

Brayan Villarreal went 5.1 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on 6 hits (one a homer) and five strikeouts. Brandon Douglas was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.

AA: Erie 3, Reading 2 (Game 2)

The bullpen took the start and all three pitchers pitched... unimpressive. The hitting was OK though, Bryan Pounds being the star with a double. Brandon Douglas was 1-for-2 with a walk as well.

A+: Tampa 4, Lakeland 1 (Game 1)

Luke Putkonen allowed four earned runs in six innings, on six hits, a walk and two home runs with three strikeouts. Jordan Lennarton was 2-for-2 with a walk.

A+: Tampa 8, Lakeland 1 (Game 2)

The bullpen took the start... and not a single pitcher got a strikeout. Jordan Lennarton was 2-for-3 with a double and a homer, and Daniel Fields was 2-for-3.

A: Great Lakes 7, West Michigan 1

The pitching was a train wreck, and the hitting wasn't much better. The gold star goes to Jimmy Gulliver, who was 2-for-4 with a double.

SS: Connecticut vs. Staten Island did not play

Saturday

AAA: Toledo 8, Columbus 4

Scot Drucker got the start and gave up four earned runs in four innings on six hits, with a walk, a strikeout and a homer. Zach Simons gave up a hit and struck out three in two scoreless innings. Casper Wells was 2-for-3 with a triple and a homer. Scott Sizemore was 2-for-5 with a double and a homer and Robizon Diaz was 3-for-5.

AA: Erie vs. Reading postponed (rain)

A+: Tampa 4, Lakeland 1

Jacob Turner went five scoreless innings, giving up four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. In other news, GM Dave Dombrowski probably thinks he's ready for Detroit. Daniel Fields was 0-for-2 with two walks.

A: West Michigan 11, Great Lakes 4

He didn't start the game, but Jordan Pratt's three strikeouts in his inning of work deserve lots of praise. The offense was OK, too. Avisail Garcia was 4-for-5 and a homer shy of the cycle, Wade Gaynor was 2-for-5 with a walk, Corey Jones was 4-for-5 with a double and Clay Jones was 3-for-5 with a double.

SS: Staten Island 2, Connecticut 0

James Robbins was 2-for-3. Patrick Lawson did OK too, striking out eight in five innings, with four walks and five hits surrendered. He allowed one earned run.

Friday

AAA: Indianapolis 1, Toledo 0

Lauren Gagnier took a hard-luck loss, giving up one run in seven innings on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Josh Rainwater had two strikeouts in two hitless innings. Cale Iorg was 1-for-3 with a double.

AA: Erie 5, Reading 3

Thad Weber gave up three earned runs and eight hits in his 7.2 innings. He also struck out seven. Lester Oliveros seems to be settling down too- he got three strikeouts in his inning of work, allowing one hit. Bryan Pounds was 3-for-4 with a homer.

A+: Lakeland 5, Brevard County 4

Jon Kibler went give innings, giving up three earned runs on eight hits (one homer) with four walks and four strikeouts. Daniel Fields was 2-for-5 with a triple and Jordan Lennarton was 3-for-5 with a homer.

A: Fort Wayne 7, West Michigan 3

Trevor Feeney got shelled, and Avisail Garcia jacked a homer.

SS: Connecticut 4, Staten Island 2

Matt Perry was 4-for-4 with a double and PJ Polk was 2-for-3 with a double.
