Before we get too far into this I just have to point out: Gerald Laird hit a home run!

OK back to scheduled programming.

Scherzer is German for "Good pitching!" Or it means he's a citizen of Scherz in the district of Brugg in canton of Aargau in Switzerland. Or so Wiki says, anyway. Who says baseball isn't educational?

Max Scherzer continued to dominate opposition. Eight innings, eight strikeouts, one run allowed. ERA down to 3.60 for the season. (That's better than Justin Verlander, by the way.) Since June 4 he's only allowed three or more runs twice. Only four runs once. And not more than that.

Nice defensive plays, awesome pitching and even the bottom of your batting order getting involved in scoring some runs. Now that's how you start a must-win set of games on the road.
