ALCS Game 5 Preview: Rangers at Tigers

New, 15 comments

Texas Rangers (3-1) at Detroit Tigers (1-3)

Probable Pitchers:
Thursday October 13, 4:19p:
LHP C.J. Wilson (0-1, 7.45 ERA, 12 K, 6 BB)
Hitter to Fear: Ryan Raburn (2 for 3, 1 2B, 1 RBI)
Hitter to Fail: Jhonny Peralta (1 for 14, 7 K)

at

RHP Justin Verlander (1-1, 5.54 ERA, 17 K, 7 BB)
Hitter to Fear: Josh Hamilton (4 for 11, 2 RBI)
Hitter to Fail: Elvis Andrus (1 for 11, 1 K)

What to Watch For:
1. Since the start of the best-of-7 format in 1985, only 4 teams have not made it to the World Series when leading 3-1 in the ALCS (‘85 Blue Jays, ‘86 Angels, '04 Yankees, '07 Indians). The Tigers hope to add the '11 Rangers to that list.

2. Texas starter C.J. Wilson only has only pitched at Comerica Park 5 times in his career. He is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 7 strikeouts. Justin Verlander on the other hand loves Comerica Park. In 98 games, he is 57-23 with a 3.24 ERA and 595 strikeouts.

On Deck:
Hopefully back to Texas for Game 6.
