Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman reports on Twitter the Tigers have inquired about 33-year-old third baseman Aramis Ramirez. MLB Trade Rumors projects Ramirez could get a contract worth 3 years and $42 million from whichever team he happens to sign with.
He batted .306 with an .877 OPS with the Cubs last year. Bill James Online projects a .285 average with an OPS of .850 in 2012 (Fangraphs). However, Ramirez is a below-average fielder at third base.
Update: MLB.com's Jason Beck confirmed the Tigers' interest, but said there are currently no ongoing negotiations.
