Three home runs boost Tigers over Red Sox

Brennan Boesch, Ryan Raburn and Andy Dirks all hit home runs, lifting the Tigers to an 8-3 victory over the Red Sox in an afternoon game at Joker Marchant Stadium. Max Scherzer kept the Tigers close by allowing two runs in 4 1/3 innings, though he did walk three.

Fu-Te Ni picked up the victory for Detroit, but Brayan Villarreal and Brad Thomas helped by not allowing a run in their three innings of work. Al Alburquerque struck out two.

Another highlight at the plate: Clete Thomas got a triple, upping his average to .308 for the spring season.
