Tigers drop first spring game, 6-3

STOP THE PRESSES! OK, not really. Besides, that costs money and your boss wants to know why you stopped the press, even if you had a great reason for it. And besides, this is the Internet. The Tigers lost their first spring training game of the season, a 6-3 result against Houston, to end their winning streak at five.

Phil Coke went three strong innings, allowing a run while striking out four. Joquin Benoit went a scoreless inning, and Jose Valverde gave up a run.

From the starting lineup, Casper Wells went 2-for-3 at the plate, Danny Worth and Alex Avila both had a hit. Off the bench, Clete Thomas drove in a run with an RBI double in the ninth inning.
