Boesch delivers home run, Tigers fall on ESPN 4-3

Brennan Boesch's long bomb and Will Rhymes' RBI single gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead, but the Tigers eventually handed it all back in the late innings to result in a 4-3 loss to the Braves in Orlando. Boesch's home run to right field was estimated at 400+ feet according to the ESPN broadcast of the game.

While Brad Penny stayed back in Lakeland to get his session in, Max Scherzer led the Tigers into Disney town and pitched three scoreless innings before giving way to the bullpen. He walked one and allowed one hit. In two innings of work, Ryan Perry gave up a run after a wild pitch. Robbie Weinhardt worked a 1-2-3 inning including forcing two ground balls back to the mound. After that, the minor leaguers took over.

For the Tigers, who featured a number of regulars in the lineup, Austin Jackson, Jhonny Peralta and Don Kelly each doubled. Jackson also worked two walks. Miguel Cabrera went 0-for-3 to see his spring training average fall to .083, but alas, spring stats don't matter so I don't know why I bothered telling you. Neither Magglio Ordonez nor Victor Martinz is batting anything worth noting either after combining for 1-for-6.
