Minor League Recap Weekend Edition: Casey Crosby strikes out six over four, Erie falls to Bowie


AAA: Columbus 6, Toledo 2

Adam Wilk got hit in his 5.2 innings of work. He allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on six hits (one of which was a homer) two walks and three strikeouts. The 'Hens didn't provide much offensive support: Danny Worth was 1-1 with three walks and two stolen bases.

AA: Bowie 11, Erie 7 (Game 1)

Casey Crosby took the first start in the double header. He went four innings, giving up two earned runs (three total) while striking out six and walking two. Brandon Douglas was 1-4 with a homer and Jamie Johnson was 1-3 with a triple and a walk.

Erie 2, Bowie 1 (Game 2)

The pitching was phenomenal in this game. Luke Sorensen gave up one earned run in 5.2 innings of work, striking out seven and walking two. Meanwhile Lester Oliveros picked up six(!!!) strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work. Jamie Johnson was 1-4 with the game winning home run. Brandon Douglas was 2-4 with a stolen base.

A+: Lakeland 4, Dunedin 3

Trevor Feeney gave up three runs in 6.2 innings against the rehabbing Brandon Morrow. Gustavo Nunez was 2-4 with a walk and a strikeout (he was also caught stealing).

A: West Michigan 8, South Bend 1 (Game 1)

Kyle Ryan went 6.1 innings, giving up one earned run. Rob Brantly was 1-3 with a homer and a walk while Billy Nowlin and James Robbins were both 2-4 with a double each.

West Michigan 6, South Bend 3 (Game 2)

Kevin Eichhorn gave up three runs in 4.2 innings, striking out six while walking two. Bruce Rondon picked up the save and a pair of strikeouts. Nick Castellanos was 2-4.


AAA: Columbus 10, Toledo 4

Things were bad for Toledo on Saturday. Duane Below went five innings and gave up three earned runs. The bullpen then gave up seven runs, five earned. Suffice it to say, Toledo lost badly. Danny Worth was once again the offensive star, going 2-5 with a double. Andy Dirks was 0-3 with two walks and two stolen bases.

AA Erie @ Bowie Postponed (game made up Sunday)

A+: Lakeland 9, Daytona 6

Victor Larez gave up three earned runs in six innings. Wade Gaynor was 3-4 with two doubles, Tony Plagman was 4-5 with two doubles and Avisail Garcia was 2-4.

AAA: Toledo 5, Columbus 4

Charlie Furbush had a short outing on Friday, going 4.1 innings in which he struck out six but walked four. He only surrendered one run, however. Robbie Weinhardt got the save and two strikeouts. Scott Sizemore was 2-4 with a double.

AA: Bowie 9, Erie 8 (12 innings)

Luke Putkonen gave up four runs (three earned) in his five innings of work. Bryan Pounds was 2-6 with a homer.

A+: Lakeland 4, Daytona 3

Jared Wesson gave up three runs in 5.2 innings of work. Gustavo Nunez was 2-5, Daniel Fields was 1-3 with a walk and a homer and Tony Plagman was 2-3.
