The big news here is Charlie Furbush's seven inning one-hitter. Furbush struck out nine batters as well, while getting seven outs by ground and four by the air. Andy Driks was 1-2 with a double while Ryan Strieby was 1-3 with a double.
Indianapolis 3, Toledo 1 (Game 2)
Toledo wasn't so lucky the second time around. Chris Oxspring took the start out of the bullpen and gave up one earned run over three innings. Matt Hoffman gave up two earned runs in relief of Oxspring. The Tigers pitching failed to strike out a single batter in this game. Andy Dirks was 1-2 with a triple.
Luke Putkonen got beat up for six earned runs over 3.2 innings. He gave up three walks, struck out three and allowed a homer. Francisco Martinez was 2-4 with a homer and Brandon Douglas was 1-4 with a double.
Victor Larez got slammed for five earned runs in four innings of work. He struck out four, walked three and gave up a homer. Gustavo Nunez was 2-5 with a double and Brent Wyatt was 2-4 with a double and a stolen base.
Josue Carreno went five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits (one a homer) and two walks while striking out five. Edwin Gomez was 3-5 with a double. Herman Perez was also 3-5 with a double but he also swiped a base.
