Analysis:
The Tigers start this series tied for second place in the division and 4.5 games back from the Central leading Cleveland Indians. Max Scherzer opens the series up and is coming off his strongest start of the season, going 8 innings giving up 4 hits against the White Sox. Indians counter with Jeanmar Gomez, who only has 1 start in 2011. In that start, he gave up 5 runs in 4 1/3 innings of work.
Rick Porcello returns to the starting rotation after his nine days off, he comes back to face an Indians team he has dominated in his career. Indians called up Alex White yesterday to make the spot start, he was 1-0 with a 1.90 ERA in Triple-A.
Tigers will see undefeated Indians starter Justin Masterson on Sunday, he has a chance to go 6-0 for the first time since Cliff Lee in 2008. Phil Coke will need to have his command back to make this a good pitching match-up, just be excited he's not playing the Mariners again.

I was just interviewed by Indians blog site WahooBlues.com about this upcoming series. Check it out!
