Minor League Recap: Jamie Johnson homers, Erie falls to Binghamton

New, 6 comments

Morning folks! Sorry I'm late, but it's exam week here in Winston Salem, so I'm trying to balance academics with baseball, and it's a battle. Take this as an apology for the delay on the recap: it's an article from David Laurilla at BP talking with both Scott Sizemore and Andy Oliver about facing each other. Interesting piece, and it should be in front of the paywall, so everyone can read it.

Onto the recaps!

AAA: Pawtucket 11, Toledo 2

Charlie Furbush got beat around for seven runs over 1.2 innings (five were earned). He walked three, struck out one and allowed three homers. Still better than a Brad Thomas outing, but I digress. Cale Iorg had the only extra base hit of the game (a double) and Victor Martinez was 1-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.

AA: Binghamton 5, Erie 2

Luke Putkonen walked five in four innings: he only gave up three runs (two earned) though. Jamie Johnson was 3-4 with a homer and Francisco Martinez was 2-4 with a double.

A+: Lakeland 3, Brevard 1

Victor Larez pitched 6.2 innings, striking out four and allowing one earned run. Wade Gaynor was 1-4 with a walk while Avisail Garcia was 1-3 with a walk and a stolen base.

A: West Michigan 4, Fort Wayne 3

West Michigan went into extra innings against the Tincaps yesterday. Kevin Eichhorn was responsible for two of the earned runs: he walked five in his 4.2 innings of work, striking out three. Hernan Perez was 3-5 with a double, a triple and two stolen bases. Meanwhile, Rob Brantly was 2-4 with a walk.
