Minor League Weekend Recap: Gustavo Nunez steals three bases, Lakeland beats Palm Beach

Sunday

AAA: Durham 7, Toledo 4 (Game 1)

Duane Below gave up 6 earned runs in 5.2 innings, striking out two, walking two and allowing a homer. Ben Guez was 1-3 with a homer.

Toledo 2, Durham 1 (Game 2)

Brayan Villarreal gave up an earned run in four innings, striking out four. Ryan Perry struck out three in two hitless innings. Cale Iorg tripled.

AA: Erie 6, Reading 5

Jacob Turner gave up three earned runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two (he also gave up a home run). Audy Ciriaco was 2-4 with a home run.

A+: Lakeland 5, Palm Beach 3

Trevor Feeney gave up three earned runs over seven innings, walking one and striking out six. Gustavo Nunez was 1-3 with a steal and two walks, Brent Wyatt was 2-3 with a triple and a walk and Wade Gaynor doubled.

A: Lake County 3, West Michigan 1

Antonio Cruz went six innings and gave up two unearned runs while striking out four and walking two. Steven Moya was 2-4 with a homer.

Saturday

AAA: Toledo vs. Durham postponed

AA: Reading 2, Erie 1

Casey Crosby threw six scoreless innings of ball, walking two and striking out four. Rawley Bishop homered and walked.

A+: Palm Beach 2, Lakeland 0

Drew Smyly found his way back to a baseball mound Saturday, where he pitched five innings of two run ball, striking out three and walking one, while surrendering a home run. Jordan Lennarton doubled and walked.

A: Lake County 3, West Michigan 1 (Game 1- completion of May 14 suspended game)

Brennan Smith gave up three runs (two earned) in eight innings, striking out four and walking two while giving up a home run. Nick Castellanos had two hits.

West Michigan 5, Lake County 2

Patrick Cooper gave up two runs (one earned), striking out six. Rob Brantly was 3-4 with two doubles.

Friday

AAA: Durham 7, Toledo 3

Ramon Garcia gave up two earned runs in five innings, striking out two and surrendering a home run. Ryan Strieby was 2-4 with a homer.

AA: Erie 11, Reading 7

Mark Sorensen picked up the win despite giving up all seven of Reading's runs. He did so by going the distance- all five innings (the game was called), allowing a walk and a homer while striking out three. Brandon Douglas was 3-4 with a double and three stolen bases and Michael Bertram was 2-3 with two doubles and a walk.

A+: Lakeland 3, Palm Beach 2

Jared Wesson gave up two earned runs in seven innings, striking out four. Tyler Stohr struck out all three of the batters he faced. Jordan Lennarton collected two hits.

A: West Michigan 6, Lake County 3

Kyle Ryan gave up three runs (only two of which were earned) in seven innings of work. He walked one, gave up a single home run and struck out eight. Nick Castellanos was 3-5 with a double and Luis Castillo was 2-3 with two doubles and two walks.
