What to Watch For:
1. Battle of the Justin's - Tigers ace Justin Verlander takes the mound for Detroit. To say he's been hot as of late is an understatement. In his last 3 starts, he is 3-0 with a 1.14 ERA and 20 strikeouts. Indians pitcher Justin Masterson has cooled off after starting the season 5-0. In his last 3 games, he is 0-2 with a 5.59 ERA and 10 strikeouts. He has not won a game since April 26th.
2. The return of Maggs - In last night's game against the Rays, Magglio Ordonez made his return to the lineup. Although he went 0-2, he said after the game that his ankle still feels great. Leyland said he will sit Magglio one game in the Cleveland series and tonight is the night. Magglio is expected back in the lineup on Wednesday night. He is 7 for 19 against Wednesday's starter Fausto Carmona.
3. At the ballpark today - Brandon Inge took batting practice and fielded ground balls this afternoon. He is expected to come off the disabled list and start for the upcoming Colorado series. Inge looked great and said he feels great after fighting off mono. Alex Avila was also taking groundballs at third base today. Leyland said he may start Avila at third for the upcoming interleague games. The only way to have Avila and Victor Martinez in the lineups.
Brad Penny squares off against Fausto Carmona on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m.
I decided to do a preview for each game separately. Tomorrow will post another game preview.
