Minor League Recap: Drew Smyly strikes out eight, Lakeland tops Clearwater

AAA: Columbus 5, Toledo 4

Adam Wilk gave up three earned runs on three solo home runs in four innings. He did strike out five, though. Ryan Strieby went 3-4 with a double and a home run. Danny Worth also homered.

AA: Binghamton 6, Erie 3 (Game 1)

Jay Voss gave up five runs (three earned) in 4.2 innings, striking out five. Gustavo Nunez was 1-3 with a walk and Fransisco Martinez doubled.

Erie 4, Binghamton 2 (Game 2)

Ramon Garcia went 4.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned). Chance Ruffin picked up the save, striking out two. Rawley Bishop was 2-3 with a homer.

A+: Lakeland 7, Clearwater 1

Drew Smyly gave up an earned run in six innings, striking out eight and walking one. Avisail Garcia was 4-4 with a triple, Wade Gaynor was 2-5 and Carlos Guillen had a hit while DH'ing.

A: South Bend 7, West Michigan 1

Kyle Ryan gave up four runs in 2.2 innings. He did not walk a batter, nor did he strike out a batter, nor did he allow a home run. Luis Castillo and Hernan Perez both doubled.

SS: Tri-City 6, Connecticut 5

Luis Angel Sanz gave up five earned runs in five innings pitched, striking out four and walking one. Colin Kaline was 2-4 with a double.
