Minor League Recap: Alex Burgos dominates for eight innings, West Michigan tops South Bend

AAA: Columbus 12, Toledo 4

Andy Oliver gave up nine runs (eight earned) in three innings of work. Jeff Salazar and Scott Thorman both homered.

AA: Erie 9, Binghamton 3

Mark Sorensen gave up three runs (two earned) in six innings of work. Robbie Weinhardt picked up the three inning save, though he also walked three batters. Bryan Holaday was 3-5 with a double, Deik Scram tripled and Gustavo Nunez was 1-3 with two walks.

A+: Dunedin 5, Lakeland 0

Luke Putkonen gave up five runs in five innings, but only three were earned. Of course, it didn't really matter how many runs he gave up since the Lakeland offense was limited to four hits (courtesy of Daniel Fields, Brent Wyatt, Jordan Lennarton and Tony Plagman).

A: West Michigan 2, South Bend 1

Alex Burgos gave up one earned run in eight innings, striking out six and walking three. Nick Castellanos doubled and walked.

SS: Vermont 8, Connecticut 7

This was just a mess (at least on the pitching side). Wilsen Palacios got the start and gave up three earned runs before he could escape the first inning. On the plus side, four C-Tigers doubled: Javier Azcona, Chad Wright, Zachary Maggard (who also added a steal) and Matt Perry.
