Detroit Tigers rumors: Brandon Inge draws Marlins' interest

MLB.com Marlins beat writer Joe Frisaro wrote on his blog this evening that the Florida Marlins are interested in (former?) Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge.

Frisaro wrote:

The Marlins have made it clear that they are seeking veteran experience at third base. A player the club is looking at is Brandon Inge of the Tigers. Now that Detroit has acquired Wilson Betemit, Inge has become expendable. While Inge is having a down year, hitting .177 with one homer and 17 RBIs, he has been with the Tigers since 2001.

::record-scratch noise::

WWWWHHHHHAAATTTTT?!!?

Do the Marlins know how much he costs? How bad he hits?

Real questions: After all that talk about Inge wanting to stay in the organization, and owner Mike Ilitch wanting him in the organization, if the Marlins truly did think they would start him at third base would the Tigers make it happen?

Frisaro adds:

The Tigers are seeking pitching help, and closer Leo Nunez is drawing interest from a number of teams.

Well at this point I am so knocked off balance by the entire report that I'm not sure what else to say. I assume they'd want the Tigers to send lots of cash or something. Anyway, you guys know how to work the comment system, so chime in.
