2. Betemit comes to the Tigers with a better bat - New Tigers third baseman Wilson Betemit carries a .281 batting average into Minnesota. He is expected to start in the series opener Thursday night. He is 3 for 9 against Pavano and 6 for 19 against Duensing. In his last game for the Royals, Betemit played against the Twins in Minnesota going 0 for 3 with 2 strikeouts. Brian Duensing started that game for the Twins.
3. Mauer slowly making his comeback - After a disappointing first half, Mauer has hit July hard. Literally, he is hitting .396 with 18 RBIs in the month of July. His average for the season is now at .297.
