Detroit Tigers Rumors: Doug Fister, David Pauley acquired from Mariners

ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reported on Twitter the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners appear to be closing in on a deal that would send starting pitcher Doug Fister to Detroit. As is the nature of Twitter, that's all he said! He followed up by saying Detroit hopes to get a deal done today and that he had no clue what would come from the Tigers' side of the equation.

Update from CBS Sports' Danny Knobler:

Furbush is expected to go to Seattle in deal for Fister (with others). Tigers trying to get reliever (not League), too

Turner starting for Tigers today, but it's a one-shot deal. Tigers very hopeful of getting Fister later today.

Update from Knobler and Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman

The Tigers apparently wanted reliever David Pauley (Fangraphs) included in the deal, which led to some additional work. The deal is apparently completed. What Detroit is giving up is not yet known.

Knobler reports it's Furbush, Casper Wells and possibly another player. TigsTown's Paul Wezner believes Duane Below is probably part of the deal as well. but states that's clearly speculation. Calling up Turner suddenly in place of Below wouldn't make a lot of sense otherwise. (Tigers.com actualled tweeted a preview story about Below starting today before deleting the tweet.)

OK it appears to be 3rd base prospect Fransisco Martinez going to Seattle to complete the deal. So it's definitely not a steal by Detroit. But I still like it. Below apparently still a Tiger. (Or Mud Hen after Detroit takes a moment to sort out its 25 man roster)
