What to Watch For:
1. Scherzer set to open series - Tigers starter Max Scherzer is 1-2 with a 2.14 ERA in his last 3 games. He has not got the run support in his last few starts as he has not given up more than 2 runs in any of his last 4 games.

2. Welcome to Detroit - Newly acquired Doug Fister makes his debut for the Tigers on Wednesday's night game. The 27-year-old righty was having a great season for the Mariners(except in wins), he holds an impressive 1.171 WHIP. Compared to Verlander (0.837), Scherzer (1.383), Penny (1.457), and Porcello (1.364) he seems to make a great addition to the starting rotation and finally bring some balance to it.

3. Welcome to Detroit 2 - Also acquired in the Mariners trade is relief pitcher David Pauley. The 28-year-old actually knows Michigan pretty well already. His wife is a Michigan native and the couple actually reside here during the off-season. Friends close to Pauley say he's extremely thrilled to be a part of the Tigers. Pauley was mostly setting up Brandon League in Seattle but you will mostly see him in th 7th inning as Leyland said Benoit will stay as 8th inning setup man. Stat to note - Pauley has a career 0.00 ERA with 5 strikeouts in 4 games at Comerica Park.

On Deck:
Tigers travel to Kansas City on Friday for a 3-game series against the Royals.
