In what's been a miserable World Series, when it rains for the Tigers, it just doesn't just pour, it becomes a deluge. The latest bad break forces the Tigers to make a lineup change due to injury.

The original starting 9 included catcher Alex Avila batting 8th. FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal reports Avila was scratched to due to a right wrist issue, an injury he suffered during game 1.

Via Matthew B. Mowery of The Oakland Press, Jim Leyland said Avila's injury affects his swinging a bat:

"I could probably run him in there to catch, if I needed to. Not sure about pinch hitting."

Backup Gerald Laird will replace Avila, batting 9th.

The Giants made one adjustment to their ineup. Right-hand hitting utility man Ryan Theriot will be the DH, replacing Hector Sanchez.
