It's no secret the Tigers had struggles in the corner outfield spots in 2013. Andy Dirks performed admirably when healthy, but Ryan Raburn, Brennan Boesch, Quintin Berry and assorted others left a bit to be desired in the statistical column. Finally a young Avisail Garcia found some traction, but that only proved to show how much further he had to tune his game before holding down an every day spot in the lineup.
So I thought I'd dream a little bit in my column in the Detroit News today. (Actually, it hit the website Monday.) Josh Hamilton seems to be the biggest name on the free agent market. (Well, it's assumed he'll be on the market, anyway.) Torii Hunter could be fun. Any number of players Rob Rogacki has written about in his series might be fun, too.
The nice thing about being a Tigers fan is that you know owner Mike Ilitch is one too, and thinks just like you. So it seems pretty reasonable to assume fans are going to be happy with the results, even if Ilitch's accounts are not.
So, go give the column a read, see what you think!
