Over the past few weeks, the guys (and gals?) at Royals Review have been hard at work organizing a cyber event called the SB Nation Mock GM Winter Meetings. Basically, the staff and/or readers at each MLB site have chosen someone to represent their team in the best way possible: running them. For those familiar with the Out of the Park Baseball simulation game, it's a similar idea, only against other people.
As you might have guessed by now, I'll be taking the reins from Dave Dombrowski for the next few days.
Breathe. And stop laughing please.
Anyway, here's how it works: everything has basically been reset to the beginning of the offseason. The Fake Tigers don't have Torii Hunter yet, Delmon Young and Jose Valverde are just being shown the door, and Anibal Sanchez... well, that's still the same.
Luckily, my first couple moves as GM were no brainers. I picked up the options of both Jhonny Peralta and Octavio Dotel, and tendered contracts to all seven of the players that received offers in real life. Yes, even Brennan Boesch. Bless the poor soul I dump him onto this week.
My free agent targets are also pretty obvious: Torii Hunter and Anibal Sanchez need to be wearing the Olde English D next season. Beyond that? That's where the fun starts.
Use this as your ultimate rosterbation open thread. Want to trade Max Scherzer? Should I sign Josh Hamilton? Can I balloon payroll to $200 million? Anything goes, especially because it's not real.
