The morning rumors out of the Winter Meetings were true. The Tigers were serious in their pursuit of free agent outfielder Scott Hairston.

#Tigers have offered two-year contract to Scott Hairston, source says.— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) December 3, 2012
The afternoon rumors Hairston is no longer a target of the Tigers are also true
Adam Rubin of ESPN New York:
Told Scott Hairston will not be a Tiger.— Adam Rubin (@AdamRubinESPN) December 3, 2012
After signing $1.1 million a season deals with the Mets in 2011 and 2012, Hairston is looking for more security and a hefty raise. Reports are the 32 year old right-hand hitting Hairston wants a multi-year contract worth somewhere in the range of $4-5 million a season.
Despite being an excellent fit for the Tigers' needs, the contract demands of the 9 year veteran may have been too rich for the Tigers' blood.
