Lynn Henning of the Detroit News was the barer of a bit of bad news this morning.
Jacob Turner being shut down this week with "tendinitis" in his right shoulder. Tigers don't view it as serious. For now ...

Yesterday, Tigers manager Jim Leyland spoke about Turner battling "dead arm" issues.
Again, in the Detroit News:
Leyland, who joined his team for Tuesday's trip to Viera for a game against the Nationals, was asked if he was concerned about Turner's slip in velocity.
"Yeah, a little bit," he said, in a voice that hinted at greater concern. "I think it might be a little dead-arm period."
Obviously not good news, this shouldn't cause a feeling of general malaise. Yet I'm pretty sure that it will. It seems every spring we see a story about a pitcher with some soreness, or something minor that requires a bit of rest. And the next thing you know, they're going under a knife.
Look, just because it's happened in the past doesn't mean something dire is wrong with Turner. But I certainly share your nervousness about the situation. Hopefully this turns out to be one of those stories where a little rest helps.
Turner struggled with command in his appearances this spring, sporting an 11.25 ERA after three games. Pitching four innings, he allowed six walks and six hits, including a home run.
UPDATE: Henning has a full story now. Turner will not pick up a baseball for a week. Tigers trainer Kevin Rand says it's not serious.
