Brennan Boesch had a pair of extra-base hits, Jhonny Peralta had three hits and Andy Dirks' boosted his case for the roster with two, but in the end the Tigers found themselves tied for the 53rd time in the month of March. Well, around there anyway.

Boesch had a home run -- his fourth of the spring season -- and a double. Peralta hit a home run, as well.

However, the Marlins picked up a pair of runs off starter Rick Porcello -- one earned, one not -- and tied the game against relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit. Daniel Schlereth picked up the tie with a scoreless 10th inning.

While Dirks increased his spring average to .395, Clete Thomas had a mixed day. The outfielder went 0-for-2, but did pick up an outfield assist, gunning Chris Coghlan out at first base to complete the double play on an Austin Kearns fly ball in the seventh inning. Dirks was playing, by the way, because Delmon Young left with a sore knee. He's unofficially listed as day-to-day.

Brandon Inge had a bad day, going 0-for-3 to lower his average to .159. Reminder, Jim Leyland earlier in the year: "It's going to come down to how (Inge) hits." So we'll see.
