MLB Draft: Tigers Select Austin Schotts

With the 121st pick in the 2012 First Year Player Draft, the Detroit Tigers selected Austin Schotts, a center fielder out of Centennial High School in Texas.

Schotts played shortstop in high school, but the Tigers announced in the conference call that he would move to center field. A speedy guy with a fringy arm, he should play well at the position. His bat is solid as well; he has a smooth swing from the right side, and projects to hit for reasonable average. He also has decent power for a small guy; he won't hit a ton of home runs, but he certainly has enough to play center field.

Update: Austin is also on Twitter. And apparently he knows second round pick Jake Thompson.
