Quintin Berry was replaced by Avisail Garcia in tonight's game after injuring his right shoulder when diving for a ball off the bat of A's outfielder Josh Reddick in the 7th inning. Berry stayed on the ground after throwing the ball back into the infield and appeared to be in a great deal of pain. The team has already reported that Berry's x-rays came back negative.
There are no reports of an MRI to follow up, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of soft tissue damage in Berry's shoulder. However, an injury doesn't necessarily end Berry's season. Depending on his pain tolerance and the severity of the injury, he may still be available as a pinch runner or defensive placement. However, anything more than a bruise will severely impact his ability to swing a bat, especially given the amount of rotation required in his front shoulder.
