The Tigers walked off with a victory this afternoon, but there are five more games scheduled for this evening. Join the conversation!

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

With the Tigers finally ahead by a comfortable* margin in the AL Central, it's time to enjoy some evening baseball. That, or you can suffer through the stress of watching the White Sox and Rays like the rest of us.

*Comfortable as in "we're still alone in first place at the end of the night no matter what happens."

Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox, 8:10 p.m.

Pitching Matchup: RHP James Shields (15-9, 3.65 ERA) vs. RHP Jake Peavy (11-12, 3.40 ERA)

Interest Level: 10 (Baseline 5; +5 for the magic number countdown has officially begun; -1 for playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs; +1 for Hawkenfreude is the best -enfreude)

Washington Nationals at Philadelphia Phillies, 7:05 p.m.

Pitching Matchup: LHP Gio Gonzalez (20-8, 2.84 ERA) vs. RHP Tyler Cloyd (2-1, 3.86 ERA)

Interest Level: 3 (Baseline 5; -1 for Tyler Cloyd pitched for the Phillies the last time I did this and I still don't know who he is; -1 for National League baseball = naptime; -1 for 4 of the 5 National League playoff spots have already been filled; -1 for Stephen Stras... oh wait; +1 for potential hearing of F-bombs on live TV at any moment because the game is in Philadelphia)

New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays, 7:07 p.m.

Pitching Matchup: RHP Ivan Nova (12-7, 4.94 ERA) vs. RHP Brandon Morrow (8-7, 3.28 ERA)

Interest Level: 6 (Baseline 5; +1 for Brandon Morrow is the poor man's Max Scherzer; +1 for I don't know about you, but I would much rather see the Orioles in the ALDS; -1 for Alex Rodriguez being on the Yankees roster; -1 for *Googles* nope, still no Jose Bautista; +1 for maybe Brett Lawrie will throw something at an umpire again)

Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves, 7:10 p.m.

Pitching Matchup: RHP Jacob Turner (2-4, 5.23 ERA) vs. RHP Tommy Hanson (12-9, 4.46 ERA)

Interest Level: 4 (Baseline 5; +1 for Jacob Turner!!!!!11!!!; -1 for idiots comparing Jacob Turner to John Smoltz; +1 for Turner might not be ours anymore but we'll love him like he is anyway; -1 for but if Turner pitches really well we might still be a little heartbroken that we gave him up so early on; -1 for wait, this is still National League baseball)

Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres, 10:05 p.m.

Pitching Matchup: LHP Chris Capuano (11-11, 3.74 ERA) vs. Casey Kelly (2-2, 5.55 ERA)

Interest Level: 2 (Baseline 5; +1 for Vin Scully's voice parts the heavens; -1 for Petco Park eats potential home runs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; -1 for zero playoff implications whatsoever; -1 for Clayton Kershaw isn't pitching, which is 50% of why you watch the Dodgers anyway; -1 for no, the Padres are not trading us Everth Cabrera so stop asking)
