Tigers manager Jim Leyland made a big change in his lineup before Game 4 of the ALCS. After it worked, with the Tigers putting up seven runs against Jake Peavy and the Red Sox on Wednesday, Leyland said he would keep the lineup the same for Game 5.
He didn't quite follow through on that, though the change is minimal. Right-hander Omar Infante and left-hander Alex Avila are being switched in the order against the left-handed Red Sox starter, Jon Lester. The Tigers beat Lester, 1-0, in Game 1 on Saturday. He scattered six hits and a walk while striking out four.
"Game 5 probably a little more important for us than them," Leyland said, referring to the fact a loss would require the Tigers to win two more games in Boston to advance to the World Series if they didn't win Thursday in Detroit.
Game 5 is set for 8 p.m. on Fox.
