Jeff Jones, Dave Clark named to Tigers' coaching staff

Jones will continue as pitching coach.

Jeff Jones and Dave Clark were named to manager Brad Ausmus' coaching staff on Wednesday. Jones will continue to serve as the pitching coach, a position he held under Leyland since 2011. Clark will serve as the outfield instructor and third base coach.

There has been no word yet on whether Tom Brookens will remain on the staff.

Clark comes over from the Astros, where he most recently spent a year as first base coach after spending four directing traffic at third. He also has an iota of managerial experience, having been given the interim title for 13 games in 2009. He also managed six seasons in the minor leagues in the Pirates and Astros organizations. Clark played 433 games in the outfield across 13 seasons spent with six different teams 1986-98.

Both Jones and Clark have agreed to two-year deals.

Jones has been with the Tigers since the 2007 season, having been named the bullpen coach in November 2006. He was named the pitching coach on July 3, 2011,
