Poll: Was trading Doug Fister a good move for the Tigers?

At first glance, this one is tough to swallow. The Tigers traded Doug Fister to the Washington Nationals for infielder Steve Lombardozzi and left-handed pitchers Ian Krol and Robbie Ray. Fister struggled at times last season, but finished with a 14-9 record and 3.67 ERA in 208 2/3 innings. Over the last three seasons, he ranked ninth in all of baseball in wins above replacement.

Lombardozzi hit .259/.278/.338 with 15 doubles and two home runs in 307 plate appearances for the Nats last season. During his big league career, he has played second, third, shortstop, and left field defensively.

Robbie Ray is a 22 year old who just finished up a season split between Advanced-A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg. He had a combined 11-5 record and 3.36 ERA in 27 starts between the two levels. He had 160 strikeouts and 62 walks in 142 innings.

Krol appeared in 32 games for the Nationals last season, logging 27 1/3 innings. He allowed a 3.71 ERA but held left-handed hitters to a .593 OPS.
