2013 MLB Draft: Detroit Tigers select Jonathon Crawford at 20 overall

The Tigers used their first round pick in the 2013 draft on Florida Gators right-handed pitcher Jonathon Crawford.

Rob Foldy-US PRESSWIRE

With the 20th overall pick in the 2013 MLB First Year Player Draft, the Detroit Tigers have selected Jonathon Crawford, a right-handed pitcher from the University of Florida.

Crawford features a strong fastball that sits in the mid-90's and touches 96. The velocity tends to stick around deep into games, though Crawford has problems with fastball command. He complements the fastball with a nice slider that projects to be a plus pitch. Crawford also has a changeup that he has been tinkering with, and his future will be determined based on whether or not the change develops. If he can develop the third pitch, he's a third starter. If not, he's Ryan Perry 2.0.
