Omar Infante left the Tigers' game in the fourth inning Wednesday with an apparent leg injury after being on the wrong end of a hard slide at second base. Infante was attempting to turn a double play on the Blue Jays when Toronto center fielder Colby Rasmus slid hard to break up the chance.
Infante was in visible pain immediately after the play. He later put weight on the leg with assistance from Tigers head athletic trainer Kevin Rand. However he did leave the game, replaced by Ramon Santiago.
The Tigers have not yet announced an outlook on Infante, though we'll update as soon as they do.
There's been some debate on Twitter about whether the slide was dirty or not. Some, including Fox Sports Detroit and AP writer Dave Hogg, have called the slide at best "reckless and dangerous." The Detroit News' Tony Paul just said, "That's baseball."
What's your take on the play?
