Avila 3, Royals 2: Two homers bail out Tigers
Alex Avila supplied all the Tigers' offense, homering twice off Royals' starter Jeremy Guthrie to give the Tigers a series win. Max Scherzer was brilliant, deserving of the win, but fell short of his 20th victory for the fourth straight start.
