Apparently something went terribly wrong in Bruce Rondon's fantastic 10-pitch outing Thursday against the Twins, in which he struck out the side with seemingly no trouble at all. Somewhere in there, one of those 10 pitches seems to have done some further damage to the young fire-baller's elbow.
Chris Iott of MLive.com reported today on Twitter:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>How's Bruce Rondon? Jim Leyland: "Not good." Same thing as before? "Not good." Does that mean day to day? "Not good."</p>— Chris Iott (@Chris_Iott) <a href="https://twitter.com/Chris_Iott/statuses/382971551114477568">September 25, 2013</a></blockquote>

Fox Sports Detroit's John Keating concurs:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>"Not good". Jim Leyland said it 4x about how Bruce Rondon is feeling after 3K inning last night. Obv setback. BP is short tonite behind Max.</p>— John Keating (@JohnKeatingFSD) <a href="https://twitter.com/JohnKeatingFSD/statuses/382975094554763264">September 25, 2013</a></blockquote>

As does Jason Beck:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Asked how Bruce Rondon feels after first outing back, Leyland said: "Not good." No details beyond that.</p>— Jason Beck (@beckjason) <a href="https://twitter.com/beckjason/statuses/382972125016895488">September 25, 2013</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>At this point, Rondon is a day-to-day situation. Treatment today, off-day tomorrow, see how he feels Friday.</p>— Jason Beck (@beckjason) <a href="https://twitter.com/beckjason/statuses/382994909525196800">September 25, 2013</a></blockquote>

The Detroit Free Press adds:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Rondon not available. Apparently elbow flares anew after huge outing last night. "Not good," Leyland said.</p>— Freep Tigers (@freeptigers) <a href="https://twitter.com/freeptigers/statuses/382973602154283010">September 25, 2013</a></blockquote>

And Lynn Henning weighs in as well:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Recurring elbow pain. The consolation for Bruce Rondon and his followers is that elbows are better than shoulders. Even if it's Tommy John.</p>— Lynn G. Henning (@Lynn_Henning) <a href="https://twitter.com/Lynn_Henning/statuses/382985831113166849">September 25, 2013</a></blockquote>

The reaction from the fanbase is to be expected:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Rondon is an integral part of the Tigers bullpen. They need him healthy.</p>— TigersProspectReport (@TigersProspects) <a href="https://twitter.com/TigersProspects/statuses/382974262434213888">September 25, 2013</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>The <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Tigers&src=hash">#Tigers</a> bullpen is shorter than the average resident of Munchkinland tonight. Hopefully Jhonny is also working on his slider this week.</p>— HookSlide (@HookSlideBYB) <a href="https://twitter.com/HookSlideBYB/statuses/382984278679642113">September 25, 2013</a></blockquote>

It remains to be seen how long Rondon will be out of the picture, but one thing seems to be quite clear: the Tigers need this arm in their bullpen if they intend to be contenders in the 2013 playoff season.
