Topics:
Mark Brown interview: Mark gives us the Baltimore Orioles' point-of-view on the suspension of Chris Davis, Manny Machado's injury, former Tigers and current Orioles Delmon Young and Qunitin Berry, Buck Showalter, how the Tigers match up and his prediction for the series.
Tigers win fourth straight division crown: Our thoughts on what was one of the more grueling regular seasons in memory.
ALDS rotation announced: Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander on the road in games one and two, David Price getting the nod at home to start game three. Rick Porcello starts games four if necessary. Do you agree with bumping Verlander up a day and moving Porcello to the back of the rotation?
Raji Davis and the ALDS roster: The 25-man roster doesn't need to be announced until 10AM Thursday and Brad Ausmus may use every bit of that time. A roster announcement appears to be on hold until there is a final determination on Rajai Davis' injury status (if out for the ALDS, he can still be added for the ALCS). The polite term for Davis' injury is "Grade 1 pelvic strain" (aka pubic symphysis strain). If Davis isn't on the roster, how badly does that affect the Tigers' chances? Who becomes the starting center fielder?
Concerns going into the playoffs: Who and/or what bothers you about this Tigers team heading into the post season?
Positives going into the playoffs: Who and/or what has you excited for the Tigers' chances going into the post season?
AL wild card game: The Royals beat the Athletics 9-8 in a truly wild 12 inning, five hour marathon. Words could not describe how glad we are the Tigers avoided a glorified game 163.
TV weirdness: This ain't your grandfather's (or even your father's) TV schedule. TBS has both the ALDS and ALCS, while the NLDS is split between Fox Sports 1 and MLB Network. The only baseball fans without cable can watch is the NLCS and World Series on FOX.
Twins fire Ron Gardenhire: He's been in Minnesota forever, 13 seasons of being a thorn in the Tigers' side and winning six division titles. Between Tom Kelly and Gardenhire, the Twins have had just two managers over the past 28 years. But four straight 92 loss seasons apparently sealed Gardenhire's fate.
All that, plus tangents galore!
Upcoming guests:
October 10: Matthew B. Mowery, Tigers beat writer for The Oakland Press.
