They say there's a first time for everything. Yours truly was asked by Toledo's 106.5 The Ticket, to go on the air Thursday afternoon and discuss the moves that were made in the last week.
The Tigers re-signed designated hitter Victor Martinez to a four-year contract extension last Friday. They also traded a prospect, Devon Travis, to the Blue Jays for Anthony Gose, in an effort to take care of their defensive problem in center field.
Alex Avila's option was picked up by the team after there were rumors the Tigers might be looking to trade him, and that Detroit was interesting in some backup catchers from the Astros.
At any rate, I accepted and gave my thoughts about how the offseason has gone so far (grumbling about the weather may be purchased separately). The segment begins around the 2:30 mark and lasts approximately 18 minutes.
To summarize, no, I don't think the Tigers are done making moves. And yes, re-signing Martinez was ultimately the best decision. Now, has anyone seen the sun?
