Tigers add players to payroll, announce tryout camp

Additional players have been signed for the 2014 season and the tryout camp date has been set.

The Detroit Tigers announced Monday that six players have agreed to terms for the 2014 season. Of the 40-man roster, 25 players are now under a signed contract with Detroit.

Infielders Jordan Lennerton, Eugenio Suarez, and outfielder Daniel Fields have been added to the Tigers' payroll in addition to right-handed pitcher Jose Valdez, left-handed pitcher Casey Crosby, and catcher Ramon Cabrera.

No word has been released yet regarding the details of the contracts.

The Tigers also announced the dates for their tryout camp. The camp will be held at the TigerTown Minor League Complex in Lakeland, FL on Monday, March 3, 2014.


Camp registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. the morning of, with the workout beginning at 9:00 a.m. The tryout camp will be for players age 18-23, or players with previous professional baseball experience.

No pre-registration or participation fee is necessary to attend the camp. Those interested in trying out must provide their own glove and workout equipment. Wood bats, helmets and baseballs will be provided by the Tigers.
