DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers announced Saturday that the club has agreed to terms with the following eight players on contracts for the 2014 season.

Right-handed pitchers Melvin Mercedes and Bruce Rondon, left-handed pitchers Jose Alvarez and Ian Krol, catcher Bryan Holaday, and infielders Steve Lombardozzi, Francisco Martinez and Hernan Perez were the final contracts to be taken care of.

The Tigers now have all 40 players on the club's 40-man roster under contract for the 2014 season.

With the last of the contracts out of the way, the Tigers look to focus entirely on spring training and prepare for opening day.

With regards to a possible long term contract for starting pitcher Max Scherzer nothing has been announced and Scherzer said he will give it until opening day to be resolved.

If an agreement has not been reached by March 31st then he will not discuss something long term until after the 2014 season has concluded in order to focus entirely on the task at hand.

He said he doesn't want a looming contract to be a distraction during the season.
