GIF: The 2014 Tigers' defense is not an improvement...yet

The Tigers' revamped defense didn't fare too well on Opening Day.

One of the biggest talking points of the offseason was the improvements the Tigers made to their defense, especially in the infield. Unfortunately, things got off to a shaky start on Opening Day. First, Torii Hunter dropped a routine fly ball in the second inning.

Next, shortstop Alex Gonzalez did not alleviate fans' fears of his ability to replace Jose Iglesias when he looked Jhonny Peralta-esque on a ground ball to his right in the fourth inning.

Finally, Gonzalez bobbled a ground ball that ultimately led to the Royals' third run of the game.

Fortunately, Gonzalez atoned for his mistakes with a pair of clutch RBI hits later in the game.
