The Tigers have apparently gotten their offense and defense into regular season shape, but the baserunning lagged behind today. Nick Castellanos and Austin Jackson were both thrown out on the basepaths (like nincompoops), costing the Tigers a chance at a couple more runs.
Castellanos' blunder came when he missed a stop sign from third base coach Dave Clark -- though, to be fair, getting held at third has been a rare sight at Comerica Park in recent years.
Meanwhile, Jackson was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double in the third inning.
Honestly, I have no problem with Jackson doing this. It was an excellent play by left fielder David Lough, who isn't known for having a particularly strong arm.
