Today David Price showed the baseball world why the Detroit Tigers acquired him.
On a day where the Tigers could clinch their fourth straight American League Central division title, David Price delivered his finest hour wearing the Old English D. Despite throwing a lofty 112 pitches through 7 1/3 innings, David was absolutely dynamite.
While David Price was in the game the Tigers offense only gave him one run to work with. That was more than enough for the studly southpaw. Price came out pounding the zone, throwing 80 of his 112 pitches for strikes. Price scattered a mere 4 hits over 7 1/3 innings, allowing zero runs while working in virtually zero stressful situations.
David sliced and diced his way through the Minnesota lineup by striking out eight Twins to push his season strikeout total to 271, giving him the American League lead over Corey Kluber. Thanks in large part to what David did today, the Detroit Tigers are once again AL Central Division champs. I guess you could say that he was worth the "Price!"
