Game notes:

Jose Iglesias and J.D. Martinez are not in the starting lineup for the home opener, though they are available from the bench. The inning break clock will be used for the first time in today's game, though the adherence of its use may not be strict as teams adjust to the system. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said "you can probably see it from Winter Haven," because of its size.

Former Tiger Matt Tuiasosopo will serve as the designated hitter for the O's, batting fourth. During his 2013 season with the Tigers, Tuiasosopo bat .244/.351/.415 with 30 RBI, seven home runs, 25 walks, and seven doubles in 81 games played.

Tuiasosopo slugged his way onto the Opening Day lineup by hitting .283/.368/.583 with four home runs, six doubles, and 10 RBI in 60 at-bats during spring. But after a strong start his numbers dropped off in the second half of the season and by September he was driving no runs. He did not make the postseason and was released at the end of the year.
