Tigers 2, Royals 1: Game 25 Player of the Game Poll

Just when the Tigers needed him most, the Tigers' ace came through with a spectacular complete game performance.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Things were a bit grim in Tigerdom this morning. Two days of lifeless bats was enough to unnerve even the staunchest Tiger fan. We needed a hero, and David Price stepped up and delivered everything a team can ask from it's ace.

David Price:

A complete game shut-out salvaged the series with the Royals, and gives the Tigers a chance to even the score tomorrow afternoon. Price was in Maddux territory tonight, entering the ninth inning just over 90 pitches and burn the edges of the zone all night with fastballs that touched 97 mph. Strikeouts are cool and all, but they don't tend to lead to complete games. Price racked up only three strikeouts on the night, but he didn't need them.

Anthony Gose:

After looking a little lost at the plate, and more importantly, the field, the Tigers' center-fielder responded in a big way, sparking the Tigers' offense with three hits and some nice base-running, despite what the officials had to say in the seventh inning.

Ian Kinsler:

We're still not seeing the power we're used to from Ian, but he continues to rack up multi-hit games and play brilliant defense to complement his partner Jose. Tonight was his 11th multi-hit game of the season.
