Alfredo Simon scratched, bullpen combo may start Wednesday's game

After Tuesday night's game in Oakland, the Tigers announced Alfredo Simon will be placed on the bereavement list and will be traveling to the Dominican Republic to be with his sick father.

The Tigers are calling up Kyle Ryan to potentially start Wednesday's game, but it is uncertain yet whether Ryan will be able to join the team in California in time to make that start.

If Ryan is unable to start, the Tigers may have to dip into the bullpen right from the start of the game.

Alfredo Simon scratched from start tomorrow and placed on bereavement list. Kyle Ryan will join #Tigers, but tomorrow's starter is in limbo.

Kyle Ryan will come up from Triple-A Toledo and start if he gets to Oakland in sufficient time, Ausmus said.
