Detroit Tigers links: Miguel Cabrera 'is not fair,' Tigers still in playoff hunt

The Detroit Tigers have been a bit fortunate this season, particularly of late. While there is a certain amount of bad luck that comes with an eight-game losing streak, the Tigers only dropped four games in the standings during that stretch. They have already made up a bit of ground, winning four of their last five games -- including last night's 4-0 win over the Indians -- and now sit 3 1/2 games behind the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central.

The Tigers have been relatively mediocre after their hot start, but the regression we expected elsewhere in the division has also come around. The Royals lost a 4-0 matchup of their own to the St. Louis Cardinals last night, and have lost 10 of their last 16 games. The Minnesota Twins have lost six of seven, including a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Texas Rangers last night. The Kansas City media is still afraid of the Tigers, and the Chicago White Sox are still lurking (though they too lost last night). The AL Central race is still wide open, but with the Tigers starting to heat up, they could soon start to move up the standings.
