Reading Fightin' Phils 4, Erie SeaWolves 2 (box)

Top Phillies prospect Aaron Nola had another dominant outing against the SeaWolves, allowing one run with seven innings. Erie starter Josh Turley matched Nola for five innings, but allowed two runs and four baserunners before recording an out in the sixth. The SeaWolves offense threatened in the ninth inning, bringing the tying run to the plate with one out, but Reading closer Stephen Shackleford struck out the final two batters he faced to lock down a win for the Phils.

Lakeland Flying Tigers 11, Daytona Tortugas 6 (box)

The Flying Tigers broke open a tie game with a six-run sixth inning, cruising to an 11-6 win over the Tortugas. Lakeland took an early 5-2 lead with runs in the third and fourth innings, but Daytona battled back with runs against Flying Tigers starter Jonathan Maciel in the fifth and sixth. Daytona starter Amir Garrett allowed the first four batters he faced in the sixth to reach base before being lifted, and was eventually charged with nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits. Javier Betancourt's bases-clearing triple capped off the scoring for Lakeland.

West Michigan Whitecaps 3, Quad Cities River Bandits 2 (box)

The Whitecaps overcame a 2-0 deficit, scoring three runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take the second game of their series against the first place River Bandits. Fernando Perez delivered a quality start for West Michigan, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings, striking out five. Midwest League All-Stars Michael Gerber and Zach Shepherd both homered for the Whitecaps, who moved to 27-27 with the win.
