Trevor Bauer’s finger was bleeding, and Justin Verlander told him to rub some dirt on it

Well, sort of.

Trevor Bauer has been a lightning rod for storylines throughout his baseball career, and this year’s ALCS has been no different. Bauer’s scheduled start was pushed back due to a finger injury — he needed stitches after fixing a drone — and even the extra two days of healing weren’t enough.

Bauer was removed in the first inning of Monday’s Game 3 after his pinky started bleeding profusely (WARNING: don’t click this GIF if you’re even the slightest bit queasy).

Naturally, everyone on Twitter has responded to Bauer’s dilemma. This includes Justin Verlander, who all but said “rub some dirt on it, kid.”

Okay, Verlander was a bit more diplomatic than that (and Bauer tried to argue his case on the mound), but we have to drum up any controversy we can find.
