Tigers' James McCann goes hitless in 1st rehab appearance

Thad Weber made the start for the Mud Hens, going seven innings and giving up three runs -- two earned -- on the night. Toledo tallied eight hits but scored just once, with Dixon Machado plating Tommy Field on a single in the seventh inning. Rehabbing James McCann went hitless in three at-bats, but drew two walks in his first appearance since going on the disabled list.

Altoona Curve 9, Erie SeaWolves 5 (box)

Both offenses were on fire early, scoring a total of 13 runs between the second and fourth innings. Erie starter Brennan Smith allowed five runs in 2 1/3 innings and surrendered three home runs. Third baseman Tyler Bortnick drove in a trio of runs for the SeaWolves, including a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning.

A.J. Ladwig made another excellent start for Lakeland, throwing seven shutout innings to lower his ERA to 0.78. The Flying Tigers got their offense from RBI singles by Wade Hinkle and Mike Gerber in the third inning and a Joey Pancake sacrifice fly in the fifth. Joe Jimenez notched his third save of the season by pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Cedar Rapids Kernals 1, West Michigan Whitecaps 0 (box)

Whitecaps starter Sandy Baez gave up four hits and one run over five innings, but took the loss as the offense failed to produce any runs. West Michigan managed seven hits -- all singles -- on the evening, but went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and only had one runner reach third base.
